Nadine Klok

Once upon this time, there is an artist called Nadine Klok. She lives in a time where connections are of an abundance never seen before, but often feel more rushed. She sees potential for them to become more meaningful and genuine through the use of storytelling and interactiveness. Her view of the world makes her deeply interested in exploring human connections: humans with their surroundings, themselves and others. There’s often an anthropological touch to her art, inspired through observations or psychological concepts. She experiments with these ideas through media that allow her to work with her hands, whether it is analogue photography, bookbinding, printmaking or something new to learn - which will always stay welcome. She can’t really set on something to specialise in, and perhaps this choice will never be made. She’d secretly be quite pleased with that. 

A mix of collaborations and personal projects fit her well. Her work shows itself mainly in forms of stories. Through telling these, it’s important to her to introduce both herself and others to newperspectives. One of her favourites is to implement the curiosity, playfulness and wonder that a child often possesses, and Nadine can learn from. Connections get stronger through attention, and attention is a rare gift*. When she indeed receives this from the audience, she strives to gift something in return. So take with you some wonder caused by small observations, or perhaps a better understanding of a narrative different from yours, to bring more empathy into this ultra-connected world.
