About the teacher
Babette Kalker works in the theatre sector as a dramaturg and programmer. After completing her Bachelor's degree in Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam and her Master's degree in Contemporary Theatre, Dance and Dramaturgy at Utrecht University, she joined the ArtEZ Conservatoire in Arnhem as a teacher, supervisor and mentor. In the Bachelor's programme in Music Theatre, she teaches Theatre Theory and guides fourth-year students in creating their Final. At the Master of Music at the Arnhem Conservatoire, Babette works as a teacher and mentor.
Babette is endlessly fascinated by art, but above all by the people who are brave and sensitive enough to create it. Driven by a deep passion and a strong sense of the necessity of art, she works as a dramaturg with various theatre makers who seek to question the conventions and boundaries of theatre, performance and music. As a programmer, she focuses primarily on talent development and artistic experimentation.
