MODULAR PLASTER

A flexible modular mold that captures the versatility of ceramics.

This production technique is capable of creating an endless number of different shapes and, therefore, just as many unique porcelain objects. This is done by constructing a transformable mold out of a collection of plaster bars that can be moved, inverted, added, and removed. 

In my work, I find the process of creation just as important as the outcome. I am primarily a maker and I work from my great fascination for construction and material. Doing things manually and trying them out gets my imagination going.

As a way to honor the process, I leave the outside of the work unglazed and keep the rough edges created by the different parts of the mold. The name of each object honors the mold, as the letter/number combination is a code for the number of bars, inverted bars, and angles that it uses.
