Artist Statement

My works are heavily influenced by humanity, in both definitions of humankind as a group and the qualities of being human. My works investigate the aspects of being human and the influence of these different parts on each other. What are the struggles within ourselves? And (how) are these struggles of the one an reflection of the struggles of the whole of society. It is a search of universal comprehensive structures/ truths and discovering deeper knowledge. The ultimate goal would be to capture the whole of everything, exposing its core, in one piece.

I like to play with movement, usually through connection. To play with the interaction between materials, the interaction between the physical and the perceived and also the observer and the artwork. When looking my work, I think it is appeared that there is focus on the textures, the materials and how they are used together. The colours are generally muted or calm and the works have a certain tactility to it. What is consisted is the underlying concepts, interconnectedness and the overall feel of all the works combined. 

I believe that through this interaction and connection we can learn, research, move closer together and unite what needs uniting.
