Julia Bootsgezel

As an interdisciplinary artist, I explore the human experience through a diverse array of mediums, including ceramics, photography, video, installation, and performance. My work is deeply rooted in storytelling, exploring themes such as mental health, societal struggles and capitalism. Ultimately, what I make is a response to the world around me — a reflection on personal and societal narratives that encourage a deeper understanding of who we are, how we connect, and the systems that shape our lives. I invite viewers to join me in questioning, reflecting, and ultimately imagining alternative ways of being and living. My practice is also shaped by my work as a concert photographer. Highlighting themes of expression, identity, and the shared experience of collective emotion.
