Promise Me Something Silver
The Promise of Something Silver presents a strange scene where mundane objects transform and shift their definitions. The scene is composed of eight technological entities, each living in their own way. In this site energy emerges from unclear sources, the objects are activated, unlocking their kinetic and poetic potentials. They oscillate, flicker and spiral, engaging in an unstable dialogue with each other and the self.
A group of phones wander in thought. Two desktop computers endlessly loop and collide with each other. A power strip generates its own current. With every shift in perspective, the scene transforms.
Reflecting on the broken promises of technological enhancement and progress, the objects do not attempt to fulfill this promise; they rather stay with what's already there, creating a scene where something gray might turn silver.
About Isaac
In my practice I work across sound, video, code and installation, synthesizing them into systems where technology, perception, and materials interact in unstable ways. Looking at how these systems behave, collapse, or unexpectedly connect, I take away their functionality and misuse tools until other qualities begin to reveal themselves.
Working with found materials and media, I search for meaning in the mundane and the (in)accessible. Using PowerPoint as a performative tool, electronic price tags as canvases, or interfaces as instruments, I search for the poetic properties of the machine.
My work emerges through self-referential and iterative processes that exaggerate and amplify the traits of the technology I work with. These processes arise from curiosity and attempts to understand myself and my surroundings, wondering how virtual environments become physical, and how they animate and alter our perception.
