About the preparatory programme

You want to find out whether art is the right path for you. You want to try things out, grow, doubt and create. Whether you’re still in secondary school or already a step further: during the preparatory course you get to know yourself as a maker. You’ll explore the bachelor’s programmes of the ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem and get a first taste of what it’s like to study at ArtEZ – while preparing well for the admission process.

Programme

In eighteen Saturdays, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of art & design. You’ll build a portfolio, take part in workshops and receive lessons from guest lecturers working in the field. All bachelor’s programmes offered by this academy will be covered. The programme consists of the following components:

• Introduction Day – on the first Saturday we start with an introduction.
• Image Grammar – three classes in which you work with various visual means such as line, plane, structure and meaning. How do you look at the world as a creative maker? What is your visual language, and how can you develop it?
• Spatial Design – three classes, both exploratory and applied.
• Art Theory and Art Presentation – two classes.
• Fashion Design – three classes.
• Product Design – three classes.
• Graphic Design – three classes.
• Design Art & Technology – three classes.
• BEAR Fine Art (drawing/painting) – three classes.
• Various department-focused workshops: Fine Art/BEAR, Fine Art and Design in Education (DBKV), Fashion Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Design Art & Technology.
• Joint Project Day.
• Visit an open day.

After the preparatory programme

Want to continue at ArtEZ? This preparatory programme gives you a solid foundation for applying to the bachelor’s programmes. It does not grant automatic admission, but on the final day of the programme you can take part in the admission procedure.
