This year, the four-member jury consisted of Mathieu Charles (theatre maker), Michel Krielaars, (book editor at NRC), Frances Welling (editor DIG) and Aline Lapeire (deBuren programme maker). From the anonymised submissions, they selected the six strongest works. On the basis of literary quality, original themes and innovation, they chose the following graduation projects.

- Daniël Olivier - Aan de oever van drie rivieren ligt een hond (Creative Writing, ArtEZ)
All nominees will be programmed at a literary festival and invited to participate in the New Types Industriedag for literary creators and professionals. Here, they will attend workshops and speed-date with professionals in their field, among other things. The winner of De Afstudeerprijs 2023 will also receive €500 in prize money, made available by the participating programmes, and may perform at the next Wintertuin Festival.
Creative Writing stands out
Interestingly, all the nominees this year are graduates of the Creative Writing bachelor's course at ArtEZ. About two thirds of the submissions came from this course, according to the jury's report, and the selection consequently indicates nothing about the caliber of work coming from the other writing courses.
Award ceremony during Industriedag Nieuwe Types
The presentation of De Afstudeerprijs will take place on Friday 10 November at Theater a/d Rijn in Arnhem, during the evening of the New Types Industriedag for literary creators and professionals. In the run-up to the award ceremony, excerpts from the nominated graduation works will be published on Wintertuin's online podium Notulen van het Onzichtbare.
