On Friday 29 May Corpo-real is organising a Discourse Meeting as part of Friday afternoon sessions where we invite people from a wide range of disciplines. To talk about their research, strategies, ambitions and project. This Friday we will meet Nienke Hoogvliet.

Describing herself as an ‘artivist’ – a portmanteau of ‘artist’ and ‘activist’ – Nienke Hoogvliet (1989, The Hague) uses design to inspire harmony between humans, society and the natural environment. Nienke trained in product design, but soon realised that her passion lay in using craft, culture and innovation to tell stories that drive change. Working collaboratively with scientists, industry experts and other creatives, she starts with a problem that captures her imagination, conducts extensive research, and then creates hand-crafted objects, installations and books that pose solutions. She has worked with materials like seaweed, fish skin and bioplastics.
During her lecture she will talk about these materials, the importance of using bio-based materials and why storytelling is so necessary to make a positive impact.
Admission is free and registration is not required.
