Who are you as a performer/artist?

As a performer I enjoy tasting many different things and I suppose I am a combination of all my encounters so far and everything I haven’t yet experienced. I am a shapeshifter, lingering somewhere in between, trying not to define too much what I am. I enjoy dancing, moving, sweating, singing, playing, searching, finding, forgetting, remembering, loving... I love contradictions and I love performing. That is true.

What are your ambitions?

I wish to keep on dancing, performing and creating in different contexts and to keep on meeting artists and people that I connect with. I wish to love what I do and to be exposed to many different experiences. To dance and create. It’s important but it doesn’t matter. And at the same time it matters so much! I wish to grow and to be challenged and to have fun. To fail, succeed, love, cry, laugh, feel, and do it all again. I want to start a band. A dance band :).

Where do you find inspiration?

The ever-changing nature of things keeps me inspired. There is always something else to find when you shift perspective. I find that relieving and exciting. I enjoy the combination of different elements - to put things together, un-do them and then put them together again. A lot of people around me, both close and far away, inspire me. Belonging to a community encourages me to keep on exploring, exchanging and sharing. It’s all about the people.

What did you do at your internship & what did you learn?

I met so many incredible people and performers during my year at Cullberg. I got the chance to experience several different choreographers and their practices (Alma Söderberg, Halla Ólafsdóttir, Alexandra Bachzetsis, Hooman Sharifi, Kate McIntosh). I learned all the repertoire of Cullberg’s current works and performed in Stockholm with While in Battle I’m free, never free to rest by Hooman Sharifi and in Helsinki with Sylph by Halla Ólafsdóttir. What I’ve appreciated the most during my year is the generous, inspiring atmosphere and being able to explore together with my great colleagues. It’s been wild and wonderful.
