A DIY sleeping solution designed for international students as a short-term solution to survive in art academies.

In my work, I have chosen ArtEZ as my context. This project came about because, as an international student, I have been in the situation of not being able to find a house. There is an urgency to this problem that requires more alternative thinking. Every year, students come to the Netherlands to study in art academies. However, there is a lack of temporary solutions provided by these academies. The failure to find a home makes the experience of being an international student a sad one.

This sleeping solution is easy to construct and costs 300 euros for a student to make at ArtEZ. This project is a physical representation of a problem experienced by many students every year. The project itself is a catalyst to provoke a conversation about how international students are dealt with and the way we use space.
