Practice-based learning and professional growth

You will be taught by dedicated professionals from the work field who will help you shape your own learning pathway. During your programme, you will work on topical issues and explore ways to deepen or broaden your artistic practice. As your network grows and your perspective broadens, you will continue to develop as an artist, teacher or designer. If you would like to obtain a first-level teaching qualification, there are various routes available.

Our programmes

If you are looking for a solid foundation in your profession and are not limited to part-time options, choose one of our master’s programmes in music, design and art education. These programmes offer space for artistic research and will prepare you to play a meaningful role in a changing society. Some master’s programmes are full-time, while others are available on a part-time basis.

In this intensive three-year programme you will obtain both your bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education in Arts. You will develop into an inquiring and socially engaged art teacher equipped to teach in secondary education and secondary vocational education (MBO).

This programme is for musicians who want to share their knowledge in education, or for teachers who want to deepen their knowledge of music education. It will give you a first-level teaching qualification, including for artistic and cultural education. The programme is available in a customised version.

For artists and designers who want to learn how to teach their subject. You can opt for a part-time bachelor’s programme, a shortened version or a customised track in Arnhem or Zwolle. If you have not yet completed an arts programme, you can also take the full part-time bachelor’s programme.

The four-year part-time higher professional Graphic Design programme in Zwolle trains you to become a conceptual designer who creates relevant and authentic work for clients and/or the public. The part-time programme is intended for professionals already working in the creative sector. That is a broad concept, so contact the programme staff to examine the options open to you.

Financial matters

As a student, you will pay tuition fees every year. Whether you pay the statutory or the institutional tuition fees depends on several factors, such as your nationality and any previous higher education degrees. There are various ways of funding a full-time or part-time programme:  

  • You are entitled to tuition credit.
  • You apply for one of the financial arrangements.
  • You pay for the programme yourself.
  • Your employer contributes to the costs.
