Through ceramics, film and photography, Suzanne explores sadness
For Fine Art and Design in Education graduate Suzanne de Jong from ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem, unexpressed emotions form the starting point of the graduation project.
Working with ceramic sculptures, film and photography, Suzanne explores how sadness can be given space. Rather than something to overcome, she sees it as an emotion that can be both vulnerable and beautiful.
During ArtEZ finals, student reporter Layla Souza Silva visited Suzanne to learn more about the graduation project, the role emotions play in the work, and the advice she would like to share with future ArtEZ students
