Intensive Course in Music Theory Arnhem

Are you preparing for the admission to a music bachelor’s programme and could you use some extra support for the theory exam? Then sign up for the Intensive Course in Music Theory and Ear Training at the ArtEZ Academy of Music in Arnhem.

This course provides targeted training for the theoretical component of the admission exam. After completing the course, you will be better prepared for the music theory exam, which is part of the bachelor admission procedure. You can take this training if you are already familiar with the most basic concepts of general music theory and have a basic knowledge of musical notation.

During the lessons, you will train your skills in ear training, sight-singing, notation, reading and writing rhythms, and harmonic hearing. You will also develop your knowledge of general music theory, and the requirements of the bachelor theory exam will be covered. The ability to read music is required for participation.

Practical information

• Depending on the language needs of the participants, the intensive course is taught in English or Dutch.
• The course can also be followed online.
• The course will run if there are sufficient registrations.
• The course takes place at the ArtEZ Academy of Music, Utrechtsestraat 85, Arnhem.
• Online participation is possible in consultation with the lecturer and if there are enough registrations.
• Lessons are taught by a theory lecturer from the ArtEZ Academy of Music Arnhem.

Costs

€400 (including copies and practice materials)

Cancellation: Registration applies to the full course. Due to the short duration of the course, mid-term withdrawal is not possible, and no course fee refunds can be issued.
 

In-person course

The in-person intensive course takes place on Thursdays from 8 January t/m 19 March 2026 van 19:00 to 21:30.

The online intensive course takes place on Tuesdays from 6 January t/m 17 March 2026 from 16:30 to 18:30.
