Profiles

Professional music producers work in many different areas. To help you stand out in the industry, you will choose a profile that best matches your ambitions. This choice gives structure and direction to your studies.

You will select your profile no later than the start of your first year. During information evenings, taster days, open days and your admission process, we will advise you on which profile may suit you best. At the start of your second year, you will still have the option to switch if another profile turns out to fit your talents and goals better.

Subjects such as recording, mixing, mastering, sound design, producer keys and arranging overlap across all profiles, so you will follow these regardless of which path you choose. This means that in every profile, you will learn how to take your music from the first idea to a professional final production. You will be taught by lecturers who are active in the field, working across a wide range of musical genres and professions, both in the Netherlands and internationally. 

You can choose from the following four profiles:

• Composer for Film, Games & Media
• Producer for Bands, Artists & Media
• Electronic Artist & Producer
• Songwriter & Producer 
   

In each profile, you will take the same number of courses in music production, such as sound design and audio engineering. As a student at the ArtEZ Academy of Music, you will be trained as a musician while also mastering the craft of studio production. You could learn production elsewhere – but at MediaMusic, you will also grow as a musician, collaborate with students from Pop Music, Music Therapy and Music in Education, and benefit from the programme’s international network.
