Artisteducator in Theatre & Media - Bachelor - Zwolle

After graduation

Your degree

After graduating, you’ll be awarded the title Bachelor of Education (BEd). You’ll become a versatile artist educator with an all-level teaching qualification. This means you’ll be allowed to teach theatre, drama, or media across all forms of education: primary education, lower and upper secondary education, vocational education, and adult education. Just as easily, you can also move into educational roles outside mainstream education.

The workfield

As an artist educator, you could work, for example:

  • as a self-employed cultural entrepreneur, conceiver, and creator of theatre projects;
  • as a theatre maker/director/workshop leader in neighbourhoods, at festivals, or in theatres;
  • as a theatre teacher and theatre maker within education;
  • with theatre companies;
  • at theatre schools and arts centres;
  • with the education departments of theatre companies and museums;
  • as a trainer/performer in the corporate world;
  • as an audience engagement officer at theatres;
  • as an audiovisual and/or theatre teacher in vocational education (MBO).

The Artist Educator in Theatre & Media programme trains you to become a creative driver of change. Artist educators use their own artistic practice to uncover and spark artistry in others.

Further study

After your bachelor you can proceed to a master's programme such as: Education in Arts, Performance Practices or international Master Artist Educator.
