What you'll learn

This programme prepares you to become a spatial designer specialised in the atmosphere and experience of interior spaces. You will learn to translate your ideas and research into creative designs. Using light, materials and proportions, you will define the feeling of a space – supported by a clear concept.

You will work both in your own studio and in the workshop. Under the guidance of experienced lecturers and professional designers, you will build a strong professional foundation.

At the ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design in Zwolle, the Associate degree in Interior Design teaches you:  

• how to design based on your ideas, research, client requests and societal questions;
• how to use materials, form and space to create atmosphere and emotion;
• how to reflect on your work and make informed design choices;
• how to collaborate with clients, fellow makers and professionals;
• how to find your place in the field using your unique talent and design identity.  

After two years, you will be ready to start your professional career – or, after admission, progress to the third year of the bachelor’s programme in Interior Architecture.
