Maja says that she experienced a lot of freedom during the course. In the beginning, she struggled. But now she thinks that freedom was what she needed to find her own sound. “Back then, I thought I had already found my own sound. But the teachers could tell that that wasn’t the case. And now I can say that my sound is 100% me. I learned to be more confident about what I really want to do: developing my own ideas and making my own music. I feel much calmer now.”
Maja is composing in her final. She chose to give the musicians some freedom and to let them improvise during the concert. She trusts them. “It feels super comfortable and safe. Because I know that they’re not only great musicians, they’re also my friends who will save me if something goes wrong. They take it seriously and they want to help and support me in realising my vision,” Maja says in the video. Her goal is to focus on the audience. She explains: “I’ve always focused on myself and my co-musicians. Never on the audience. But it has become my goal that there won’t be a single moment when the audience is bored.”
Find your own niche
The Bachelor Jazz & Pop is an international English-language course. The unique specialisations the course provides will ensure that you will find your own niche. In the first year of the course, you’ll discover all forms of jazz and pop. This will help you choose your direction and specialisation. You’ll also collaborate with students from other art courses that are taught in the same building, and you’ll be guided by teachers that are renowned musicians in jazz and pop, both solo and in orchestras. After you graduate, you can immediately start working as a musician in multiple fields.
