In her final concert as a Piano Master’s student at ArtEZ Conservatorium, Yağmur Şimşek will be performing works by J. S. Bach, R. Schumann and M. Ravel. In the past year, Yağmur has been working on a research project about the recovery process of musicians musicians go through when they have serious injuries, after herself having a wrist fracture caused by a crash.
Yağmur has been examining existing strategies for injuries as such, and worked on developing new ways of practicing during recovery, inspired by various physical practices. She has incorporated this knowledge with the pianistic exercises to find a way to help her recovery process. The programme that is featured in the concert is showcasing the progress of Yagmur through this exercises, since she was able to play again in April 2023. With this approach, she hopes to inspire other pianists or musicians that are facing similar difficulties in their recovery process, in sync with their instruments.
