Reader Music-Based Therapies and Interventions

Artur Jaschke

Dr. Artur Jaschke investigates how music and other art forms can contribute to health and wellbeing. His professorship focuses on the role of music in care, therapy and treatment, with attention to both physiological and psychological effects.

Vision and motivation

Jaschke views music as a universal language – one that can connect, regulate and heal. He studies how music influences the brain and body, and how artistic interventions can support recovery, development and quality of life. His mission is to bring science, art and care practice closer together.

Collaboration and impact

Within ArtEZ, Jaschke works with students, researchers and healthcare institutions on innovative applications of music therapy – for instance, in neonatal intensive care, neurological rehabilitation and mental healthcare. His research contributes to the continued professionalisation of music therapy and reinforces the role of art within healthcare.

‘Listening to, playing and improvising music are fundamentally human traits. That is precisely why they hold therapeutic value. It is now up to science to embed these traits more deeply within healthcare and medicine – and to connect them with innovation, technology and development.’
