Tim Dixx Reintjes (Meppel, Netherlands 1993-2021)

In remembrance of our dear friend and colleague Tim Reintjes, we are writing this text.

The past four years at BEAR, Tim and his practice have inspired, encouraged and provoked many people. His work depicted rich and powerful men, who he ridiculed, but also admired in a certain way. By using collages and paintings, he gave shape to these topics. Tim had a very unique language that consisted out of old footage and interfaces with the visual imagery of punk.

Tim was not only a talented visual artist, but also wrote fascinating texts on his typewriter inspired by Jan Arends, William S. Burroughs and Hunter S. Thompson.

Another big passion of his was music which was very contagious to many of us. His powerful lyrics and the big roaring sound of his guitar always resonates through the academy. Even during a smoke break, he played his banjo to lift our spirits with his song.

Tim was a very kind and gentle person, who brought a great energy to the school. His kindness and humor always made many faces smile here at BEAR.  He was always willing to help another out and was open to conversations.

In memory of Tim, we have designated a space for him during our graduation show where his work can be admired and his presence be felt. We want to thank you Tim, for sharing your time here with us at BEAR. You will always be in our hearts.
