Up until the age of 18 constantly surrounded by blue seas and clear skies, I later found out that the world is not as blue on the other side. Trying to escape the grey clouds and heavy rain coming from inside but also from outside, I dive into my fascination for the structural frame of life by building a room for my suppressed urges and grieving. With and without drama, I approach my works with honesty. Given the lack of sun in my Arnhem sky, I try to bring some from home.

In the most challenging year of my life, having to relive my biggest fear of losing a loved one again, I try to approach my grieving differently than my 13 year old self. In a time and place where I was told that my grieving should be censored and kept within; within certain rules, rituals and structures, I try to showcase how much more there is to loss and grief. The belongings, endless paper work, unstoppable memories, sorrow, rage, the slow suffering of your loved one. MyhomemymuM, is dedicated to sharing some memories from my home, my family and my mother’s passing.
