Min jung Kang

Who are you as a performer/artist?
I am Minjung. This is a difficult question for me because I am still figuring it out. For now, I don’t want to decide who I am as an artist. I would love to explore this dance world with an open mind, and I want to collect things which I like and enjoy during this journey. I would like to define who I am as an artist in the end.
What are your ambitions?
I want to be the person who can connect the European dance world with the Korean dance world. I always thought that if I knew these companies and choreographers earlier when I was in Korea, my dance style could change faster than now. There are many good things in the Korean dance world also, but I think it's hard to get information about dance in other countries when you're in Korea. So I want to be the person who can connect and share between Europe and Korea.
Where do you find inspiration?
I love soft, connected and calm movements so I normally get inspiration from clouds and waves. For this reason, I love to look at the sky and go to the ocean and observe the waves.
What did you do at your internship & what did you learn
Since I am doing an internship in the Staatstheatre, they invited different styles of choreographers, and I faced many challenges and limitations quite often. In the beginning, I was scared to do a new style of dancing which I didn’t have experience with before. But now, I am not scared to go out of my safety zone.
During my internship, I met a choreographer which I really admire. I got a chance to work on her movement quality more deeply. That moment made me grow a lot.
