Liam Siepel
Liam Siepel walks us through frames of moving images of Unidentifying bodies. With a mixed media approach containing film, animation, sculpture, installation and text, he explores the un-figurable and questions how we, as people, relate to it. Forms float from an allusive fleshy ceramic body to a melting light.
His interest lies in bodies in constant flux. The transition without a destination is ongoing, not human or animal, a being or object. Not dead or alive. He questions how we position ourselves in relation to such a thing. He uses screens to show the boundaries of thought and perception and invites people to wonder beyond their own frame, showing us our malleable perspectives and just how much of what we perceive is a reflection of ourselves.
Liam Siepel proposes we look beyond the structurally assigned meanings to look for true value, and questions what is constant within our core. With Unidentifying; an active process of saying ‘I don’t know’, he gives space to the imagination of different characters, worlds and shapes.
