Exchange at ArtEZ

Most of our partner institutions are part of the Erasmus+ programme, which is also the programme through which we have an agreement with those partners. We have also established several partnerships with non-EU institutes outside of this programme. Between partner schools, the option to study abroad is available for students from partner schools coming to ArtEZ, and the other way around. To apply for an exchange at ArtEZ, you will first have to be nominated by your home institute. Please check with the responsible person at your home institution.To nominate you for an exchange at ArtEZ, your home institute must use the Nomination Form (via Microsoft Forms) we have for that purpose. Nominations sent via mail will not be accepted. When nominating multiple students, please fill in the form separately for each individual student.

The deadlines for nomination are:

• March 1, for the Autumn semester (September – January) or the whole academic year
• October 1, for the Spring semester ( February – July)

Your home institute can contact us at Exchanges@ArtEZ.nl if there are any questions about the nomination process or exchange possibilities for their students.

Before you apply, you must be nominated by your home institute. After the nomination, you will be invited to apply via our student portal. The requirements for the application depends on the course you are applying for.

The deadlines for application are:

• April 1, for the Autumn semester or the whole academic year 
• November 1, for the Spring semester

Please note that applications sent to ArtEZ after nomination do not necessarily mean placement and acceptance of students. We will look at each application after the deadline and, depending on the quality of the application and available places at the departments, students will be accepted or not.

When receiving your acceptance letter, you will be given the contact details of the department you will be doing your exchange at. This is the time during which you will be able to start preparing your learning agreement and select the subjects you will be doing during your exchange.

When you have been accepted to ArtEZ, you have to make arrangements for housing, insurances, et cetera. See our Exchange brochure for more information.

The Dutch grading system probably differs from the system you are used to in your home country. In short our grading scale consists of numbers running from 1 to 10, where 1 is the lowest grade, 10 the highest and 5,5 (rounded off to 6) the passing grade. Grade distribution has to do with the number of times a grade is awarded on a large scale (within a study program, a faculty or even a university for the past 3-5 years), translated into a frequency percentage. To convert a grade in one system to its equivalent in another system, one then compares the percentile range of the grade.
