Four out of five bachelor programmes at ArtEZ University of the Arts have earned the designation Top Rated Programme. This is reported by the independent Keuzegids hbo 2026. ArtEZ scores well above the national average on progression to the second year and graduation. In the category of medium-sized universities of applied sciences, ArtEZ is also among the best-rated university of the arts in the Netherlands.
In 2026, 25 ArtEZ programmes are Top Rated Programme.
In Arnhem these are: Artisteducator in Theatre, Dance Artist, BEAR Fine Art, Creative Writing, Design Art Technology, Fine Art and Design in Education, Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Product Design, Composition for Film and Theatre, Jazz & Pop and Music Theatre.
In Zwolle: Artisteducator in Theatre & Media, Animation Design, Comic Design, Illustration Design, Interior Architecture, Graphic Design, Music in Education, Jazz & Pop and Classical Music.
And in Enschede these are: Music in Education, MediaMusic, Music Therapy and Academy of Pop Music.
Important guide
Keuzegids is an important guide for anyone choosing a study programme and is based, among other things, on student opinions from the National Student Survey (NSE). Programmes scoring 75 points or higher may carry the designation Top Rated Programme.
ArtEZ attaches great value to an objective assessment of programme quality. Laurien Timmermans, member of the Executive Board: “This recognition is especially meaningful because students, through the NSE, help determine the outcome. The fact that four out of five bachelor programmes are Top Rated Programme shows that the quality of our education is high. We are proud of this achievement. Student success
This year, Keuzegids explicitly highlights progression at ArtEZ. Almost all programmes score above average or well above average. Students progress smoothly to the second year and often complete their studies within five years.
Crossmedia Design and Moving Image biggest climbers
The biggest climbers are Crossmedia Design and Moving Image at AKI ArtEZ Academy for Art & Design. In Keuzegids hbo 2026 they are listed with 71 points, up from 57 points last year.
Top scorers
Once again, all bachelor programmes of ArtEZ Academy of Music and ArtEZ Academy of Art & Design Arnhem are designated Top rated programmes. Muziektherapie and BEAR Fine Art rank first in their category. The design programmes in Arnhem and Zwolle also finish high this year: Arnhem in second place, Zwolle in third place within their category.
