ArtEZ University of the Arts, in collaboration with ELIA, has selected the alumni-led studio Figure Ten as design partner for the visual identity of the ELIA Biennial Conference 2026 in Zwolle. This international event will bring together hundreds of arts educators, artists, designers and researchers to reflect collectively on the future of the arts and arts education.

Figure Ten, founded by ArtEZ Graphic Design alumni Joanne van der Wal and Annegien Schilling, is known for its conceptual and graphic work, often balancing clarity with experimentation. The studio takes on a wide range of projects, from visual systems and exhibition design to publications and digital platforms.

For the ELIA Biennial Conference, they are developing a distinctive and flexible visual identity that reflects the theme Going Off Centre. This identity extends into animation, signage, digital formats and print.

“‘Going Off Centre’ challenges us to look differently. The visual identity embraces diversity of form and creates space for openness, imagination and exchange.”

ArtEZ is committed to actively involving alumni in major assignments. With Figure Ten, the ELIA Conference will receive a design firmly rooted both locally and internationally.

The first designs will be presented in autumn 2025. The conference itself will take place from 18 to 21 November 2026 in Zwolle.
