During ArtEZ finals in Arnhem, the 2025 Heij Konijn Fonds Prize was awarded to Dorka Szabo (Fashion Design). Gitta Kumeling (Product Design) received an honourable mention for her project OBJKT–X.

Hungarian traditions and rituals
Winner Dorka Szabo grew up in Hungary. Her collection is inspired by traditions, rituals and the passage of time. Every garment is hand-stitched. An ode to the craft she learned from her mother and grandmother.
Dorka’s work tells stories of identity, generational heritage and the value of the making process. She embraces the beauty of imperfection. Visible in the seams, tangible in the fabric.

Finding value in the everyday
Gitta Kumeling received an honourable mention for her jewellery project OBJKT–X. In it, she transforms mass-produced items into wearable portraits. Think: a lighter, a brush, a pair of glasses. Using digital collage, 3D modelling and metalwork, she creates brooches that feel both familiar and strange.
Gitta explores the quiet connection between people and objects. She shows how everyday items can reflect our character and emotions. And carry more value than we might expect at first glance.
About the Heij Konijn Fonds Prize
The Heij Konijn Fonds was founded in 1995 through the will of Mrs. R.M. Heij Konijn, widow of former Arnhem alderman J. Heij. Each year, the fund supports three young artists or performers graduating from ArtEZ in Arnhem. They receive a financial grant to help launch their careers. In previous years, the prize went to graduates of the ArtEZ Conservatory. In 2025, the focus was on students from art & design.
