  • Theatre

You might have heard of them: Ilke, Joep, and Eefje Paddenburg, three young actors who graduated from the School of Drama in Arnhem and are now shining in the Dutch theatre and film world. Did you know that they grew up in an entrepreneurial family in Noordwijk, without any background in theatre? Trouw interviewed the 'Padjes', as they like to call themselves.

In their childhood home, it was always a hive of activity, with a father who ran a hair salon and a mother who owned a shop selling sustainable products. Although their parents didn’t have much to do with theatre, Ilke, Joep, and Eefje discovered their passion for acting early on at Kunstklank, a cultural production house in their village. It was there that they gained their first experiences, and thus began their shared adventure.

Finding their way

They are no longer strangers to the stage. Ilke and Eefje are both members of Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA), one of the most renowned theatre companies in the Netherlands. Joep has carved out his own path in films and television series and is set to play the lead role in the Dutch musical Soldaat van Oranje. Their careers are impressive, and it's clear that they have no trouble finding their way in the creative world.

Curaçao

Ilke, Joep, and Eefje know that talent alone isn’t enough. Hard work is key, something they learned from a young age. Even on holiday, they find it hard to sit still! Recently, they spent time in Curaçao, where they not only enjoyed the beach but also rolled up their sleeves, running a car rental business, for instance.

School of Drama

Ilke, Joep, and Eefje graduated from the School of Drama at ArtEZ in Arnhem. There, they not only learned the ins and outs of the profession but also how to turn their passion into a career. Are you also considering stepping into the world of theatre, film, or another creative field?
