Students from Dance Artist make duets at Museum Arnhem

  • Dance

Every year, second-year students from the bachelor's course Dance Artist receive the unique invitation to create a duet within the confines of Museum Arnhem or its immediate surroundings. These students draw inspiration from the artworks housed within the museum, reacting to and interacting with the space around them. Whether it's the views through the modern wing of the museum, the panoramic vistas over the Rhine, or even the atmosphere of Café Pierre, no aspect of Museum Arnhem remains unexplored. A total of eleven special duets will be performed on the 12th and 13th of June at the museum.

How do the architecture and collection of a museum inspire a captivating dance performance? This question is the foundation of a unique collaboration between Museum Arnhem and the Dance Artist bachelor's programme. The students are guided by various professionals in choreography, dramaturgy, theatricality, musicality, and theatre technology. These coaches include Reut Aviran, Jochem Naafs, Irma Nijenhuis, Silvia Borzelli, and Bram Allard. The eleven distinctive duets are divided into two routes, each offering a unique experience where 5 or 6 pairs showcase their talents.
