Congratulations Lisanne Peters! With her start-up SymbioMatter, she received the starter voucher

Last year, Product Design alum Lisanne Peters won the prestigious title of ‘most innovatie student of the Netherlands’ with her biodegradable packaging foam. So, it is no surprise that at the start of this year, she received the starter voucher of €2500. Lisanne wrote a comprehensive plan which showed possibilities for massive growth and turned that plan into a compelling pitch that unanimously convinced the jury. In the coming years, she will focus on getting patents on her products, running pilots and achieving profitability. Her end goal is to make biodegradable foam the industry standard worldwide.

At ArtEZ, Lisanne noticed material is inefficiently used. In her words, the material lasts longer than the product, complicating recycling. To share her knowledge, she wrote ‘SymbioMatter: A Biomaterial Guide’, a book that focuses on producing and using material efficiently. You can pre-order it on her website www.symbiomatter.com.

She will use the money in a few different ways. To scale production, she needs machines. To optimize her material, she will hire an intern, and to gain more notoriety, she will focus on marketing by working with a photographer. We are looking forward to hearing more of her!

The ArtEZ Business Centre wishes her and her start-up all the best!
