Sara Bax is a Dutch singer and composer whose music is described as cinematic jazz. Through her narrative style of music, she inspires reflection and a search for connection with yourself, others and the world. Her intimate and natural way of singing makes the listener feel part of the experience.

If you prefer to turn an ordinary Monday night into an evening of ripping guitars, go to Kevin Kos' finals concert. Kevin Kos is graduating as a bassist from the Academy of Pop Music. During his graduation concert, he can be seen and heard in no less than three different lineups/bands, presenting himself as a versatile session bassist (and synth bass, double bass ánd vocals). In between, footage/docu/study material will be shown.

The allure and annoyance of opera

An opera about a highly dependent woman who is oppressed and manipulated by a succesful man. That is how you could summarize the opera La Voix Humaine in one sentence. Imke Mol, a master's student in Music Theatre, struggles with this opera: it is beautiful but presents a stereotypical and sometimes outdated image of 'the woman'. For her finals, Imke therefore engages in a conversation with this opera. She explores previous adaptations and how to view this opera through a modern, emancipated lens. She discusses the allure and annoyance of opera, how women are perceived in the modern world, and how you can study Music Theatre without writing, composing, or playing music yourself. CONTINUE READING...

Student Thalisa Jagt about her internship: 'Icelanders cold and distant? They're just honest.'

She did two internships during her MediaMusic studies. The first one was at music production studio Omnisound, the second at The Greenhouse Studio's in Reykjavik. This city that left such an impression on her that finals student Thalisa Jagt decided to take the stage for her graduation to share her experiences with the audience.
