Intern in your own company (SLIEB)

Doing an internship within your own business while continuing your studies? The Interning in Your Own Business (SLIEB) program makes it possible. You’ll work alongside other motivated students and receive guidance from experienced coaches, helping you develop your professional practice step by step into a stronger and more professional business.

A new aspect of this internship is its hybrid structure: you work within your own business while also completing part of your internship at a company to gain additional professional and subject-specific expertise. By combining SLIEB with a regular internship:

We strengthen the quality of professional development by helping students develop both entrepreneurial competencies and subject-specific expertise;

  • The internship aligns more closely with the final qualifications of the degree programs, as both artistic and business-related learning objectives are ensured;
  • The connection with the professional field is enhanced, because students build not only their own business but also a professional network through the external internship placement;
  • The risk of one-sided development is reduced, since students operate not only within their own company but also learn within an established professional practice;
  • The chances of a successful start after graduation are increased, as students both develop their own business and gain relevant professional work experience.

LevelUP!

As part of SLIEB, you participate in LevelUP!, an entrepreneurship program at Saxion in which you follow your own personalized learning path. Over the course of 19 weeks, you work on a challenge from your own business and take it to the next level. You combine your studies with your professional practice, including weekly contact sessions (such as workshops) at locations in Deventer and Enschede. This allows you to actively participate in the professional field while still studying.

Who is SLIEB for?

The SLIEB program is available to full-time and part-time bachelor students who are registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) and can demonstrate that they have a business plan with ambition and growth potential. To make participation possible, your degree program will work with you to arrange tailored solutions, such as postponement (rather than cancellation) of certain academic requirements. The SLIEB program runs from February to June and from September to December.

Online information session

To provide more information about SLIEB, several online information sessions are organized throughout the year. During these sessions, you can ask questions and we explain what is required to participate in the program. Students and other interested participants can register by contacting SLIEB coordinator Andrew David.

The next session is scheduled for: Wednesday, June 3, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
