This manifests itself in various forms and multiple themes. Being broke, gender inequality and having a womb all play a major role here. Because the works are made intuitively, this results in images that can be read as "pure." The illustrated texts are pulled straight from her head. These subjects are illustrated so that she is no longer overwhelmed by them, but instead learns to live with them. In this way, the imagery functions not only as a form of processing for Hoogveld, but also as recognition for the viewer.

As an image-maker, Zoë Hoogveld is an inquisitive researcher who engages with various mediums. She processes her ideas through paintings, drawings, books, films, and also while standing in front of a classroom.
