My name is Vera Bosch. In my work, I combine a deep love of nature with a playful and critical perspective on the world around us. With humour, wonder, and a bit of cheek, I give my work character, while simultaneously conveying the conviction that we must take better care of the earth. For me, nature is a source of wisdom and connection. I draw inspiration from natural forms, patterns, and stories.
In our ever-faster society, we're becoming increasingly disconnected from nature. The hustle and bustle of modern life threatens to erode the deep-rooted bond between humans and nature, a connection that is essential for our mental well-being.
My graduation project, "Friendship with Trees," is about re-establishing a meaningful connection with nature. This project invites us to look at nature in a new, respectful, and deeper way. By approaching trees as full-fledged beings, as friends, space is created for wonder, reflection, and connection.
A key principle in this work is the mycorrhizal network: an underground fungal network that connects trees and enables communication. This natural connection serves as a metaphor for the connection I want to restore between humans and nature. "Friendship with Trees" is an invitation to reconnect with the world around us, and with ourselves.
