“A svaštara (sr/hr) is a collection of what-nots, anything and everything, all sorts of items. I’m a sentimental person and often attach emotional value to my items — receipts I’ve kept, screenshots I’ve taken in an attempt to save something, grocery shopping lists I didn’t want to get rid of. By embroidering these items, and treating each piece with care, I’m highlighting their importance as carriers of memory and sentimentality. Perhaps a more emotional connection to our items can also help foster a better relationship to one another.”
