Tamar Boekhoorn

Tamar is a curious, open, and gentle artist educator in dance. In her practice, she likes to pay attention to the theoretical basis and justification of her work. In addition, she also wants to get close: close to people, close to the subject, and close to the core of what someone needs. By getting close, she hopes to find expressive power and thus an anchor for engaging in conversation. This conversation can be about anything, but she feels particularly passionate about engaging in discussions on difficult social issues. In this, she enjoys exploring the gray area: where does it lie and what do you think about it? Tamar likes to radiate calmness to the groups she meets. The balance between space for the individual and the journey of the group is an endless process trying out, and she enjoys this process. She believes in the power of reciprocity: taking is giving and vice versa. By approaching the other person or a subject gently and attentively, she seeks warmth and the power of expression. Not only in her lessons, but also during creative processes, she feels that these elements have the power to bring people together. And she also believes that this is much needed, coming together. Ultimately, everything in her practice revolves around this, and continuing to search for the paths that lead here is an infinite learning process, which she is already looking forward to.
