Sem van der Zouwen (23) is a passionate young creator, dancer, and educator whose work focuses on the theme of connection. From this central motivation, he explores how performance can remain human and accessible, without losing the power and magic of the stage.

Both in his graduation project and in his performing internships as a dancer, he explores ways to deepen the connection between performer and audience – with a focus on vulnerability, strength, and interaction. Sem is an acrobatic dancer with strong partnering skills and a distinct sense of theatrical expression. His physical strength and technical precision go

hand in hand with a curious attitude toward his fellow performers: connection in the moment is paramount, also in his own dance. This sensitivity makes him a reliable and creative performer in diverse ensembles.

Besides his work as a dancer, Sem is also a singer and is interested in interdisciplinary work. Voice, movement, and image often intertwine in his work, constantly exploring new forms of encounter—between disciplines, between people, between body and language. With his graduation research, Sem is laying the foundation for a practice that merges artistic creation, education, and performance. He is ready to further develop his voice and vision in the professional field—on stage and beyond.
