From tension through exertion to relaxation
In this busy, demanding, performance-oriented, fast-paced, and digital society, I notice that both I and many others in my generation are increasingly neglecting our bodies. On the one hand, we feel the pressure to get the most out of life and try to juggle as many balls in the air as possible. On the other hand, we think we can relax through our digital gadgets: we scroll through social media as a "break" between work or flop on the couch with our latest show. Our minds are racing, and this reflects in our bodies, which are (unconsciously) under enormous tension as a result. Because relaxing doesn't require physical effort, we don't engage our bodies in the relaxation process, so it doesn't calm down. On the contrary, social media can be a source of tension.
As a singer, I've often noticed how important it is to actively engage our bodies in relaxation! Using our voice plays a major role in this. It allows me to fully connect with the present moment and release my daily frustration and stress. Because I would like to offer this physical way of relaxing to others, I am creating a space where this is possible.
In my scream box, our daily tension can be safely and loudly expressed. By pushing against an increasingly heavy element, you can unleash a primal scream within yourself. A space where you can let go and release your tension through screaming. From tension, through exertion, to relaxation.
