Noia Veenstra is an Artist Educator with passion, enthusiasm, and drive. As an all-round dancer, Noia feels at home in various styles, including contemporary, modern, commercial, jazz, showdance, and high heels. For her, dance is inseparably connected to passion, expression, and a zest for life. This is reflected in her versatile practice as a dancer, maker, and teacher. Safety, openness, and curiosity are important core values within her work as an Artist Educator and are central to everything she does. The physical aspect of dance also plays an important role for Noia; it is an area in which she enjoys challenging herself. In addition to dance, she regularly practices other physical sports that contribute to her vitality as a dancer and that she enjoys. During her studies, Noia has already gained extensive experience within the professional field. As an Artist Educator, she is always open to new projects, opportunities, and collaborations. Noia has been dancing from a young age and hopes to pass on the same passion and joy for dance to others.
Alongside various projects and teaching assignments, she has already spent many hours teaching as a regular instructor at different dance schools throughout her studies. Curiosity and passion are central within her classes. By creating a safe and open atmosphere, she encourages her students to bring out the best in themselves. There is space for creativity and individuality, as well as for technical development.
Whether as a showgirl or within a choreography, Noia feels completely at home on stage. Dance forms the core of who she is and is closely connected to expression and a zest for life. As a dancer, she has performed work by various makers and participated in diverse productions, including those of the Ashton Brothers, Penney de Jager during De Parade, and Plan D with Theater Orpheus.
As a maker, Noia has also developed herself broadly and worked within a variety of contexts. In addition to her own work at ArtEZ, she created choreographies for different occasions. For example, she created the piece La Beauté for Prachtevent in the garden of Orangerie De Pol, which was later also performed as a duet. Furthermore, she worked as a choreographer within theatre productions, including her own music/dance theatre performance for Rijnstate, and created various solos for different shows. Within her work, Noia has developed her own distinctive and recognizable movement quality.
Within the program, Noia was known as someone who never sat still and was always driven by enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity. Her love for dance is unconditional and forms, for her, the core and purest form of communication and expression. Through her curiosity and urge to create, she also developed herself beyond dance. During her studies, she also engaged with theatre and deepened her interest in film. She developed several dance films and her own mini-documentary, completed a film module within the Artist Educator in Film program, and created a dance film in Virtual Reality for her graduation research project. Over the past years, Noia has been working on developing her own practice and vision as an Artist Educator. She remains motivated to continue developing herself further within this field. Because of her broad interests and versatility, she does not like to place herself within one specific direction. In everything she does, her core values, qualities, and love for dance remain central. From that foundation, she hopes to bring as many people as possible into contact with the power of dance.
