VERMILION & INK is a comic created from my personal experiences as a Chinese immigrant in the Netherlands, and from stories I've come across on social media and heard from other immigrants. The way you feel excluded from your parents' culture, and almost feel embarrassed to proudly call yourself someone from your motherland. The despair of finding a place among your white friends only to hear they'll always see you as a "foreigner". Experiencing racism and discrimination beyond pulling up the corners of the eyes or calling "ching chong!" and realizing how easily incorrect stereotypes are spoken as truth.

But most importantly, in VERMILION & INK I wanted to portray the inner battle when the question of your identity grows too large, and how it is when the fear of not knowing where you belong is too blinding to appreciate your value as a person.
