My project started from a personal disconnect. I grew up without a strong connection to my Portuguese heritage and felt like I was missing a part of myself. Through researching Portuguese culture, I encountered Saudade, a feeling of longing for something distant or inaccessible, which reflected my own experience. Inspired by Fado, I explored how sound might carry this emotion. Quase Saudade takes shape as a series of interactive ceramic sound objects, where fragmented sounds and incomplete melodies reflect the search for connection to something that remains just out of reach.
