Driven, dynamic, powerful
Marlot Miesen (24) sees herself as an ‘artisteducator’ within the professional field as a teacher, dancer, and maker. She is largely engaged with the physicality of dance, while also being curious about when dance becomes more than movement alone. Experience, embodiment, and connection with one’s own body, the space, and others are important elements within her practice.
Driven by her fascination with movement and dance development, Marlot explores the possibilities of the body. In doing so, she continuously seeks new challenges — within herself and in others. The physical aspect of dance plays an important role in this process, as does the ability of dance to be fully present in the moment.
As a teacher, Marlot focuses on creating a safe and stimulating environment in which there is attention for dance development, performativity, and personal growth. There is space for challenge, connection, and experiencing dance together.
As a maker, she is inspired by the complexity and versatility of life. She embraces contrasts and translates them into the raw and the soft, the vulnerable and the powerful, the still and the explosive. Her work creates space for the pure, the vivid, and the human.
Marlot searches for moments in which movement becomes more than choreography alone — moments that touch something beyond words. Tension, authenticity, intention, and emotion form the core of her work. Music and physicality also play an essential role in her creations.
For Marlot, dance is a powerful form of expression that goes beyond technique: a way to experience, connect, and move people. In all of her work, she seeks connection — between people, between body and emotion, between maker and audience.
From her vision as an artisteducator, Marlot will continue to research, explore, and deepen her practice, while sharing her love for dance with the world — on stage, in the studio, and beyond.
