Forget what you know about princesses. For far too long you have been inundated with fairy tales for all ages, in which the blood and grime of the originals has been scrubbed away by men in suits. They sold you false love, cloaked in pastel colors. Because of them we think

princesses are soft, wear tulle dresses and want to be rescued. You think princesses’ bodies are pure. You think princesses don’t have power. You’re wrong.

INT. PRINSESSENKAMER - AVOND

Ze had het niet kunnen weten, maar haar toekomst lag daar op dat ranzige tapijt. Vliegen zwermden rond en landden op de duif, waar ze vast kwamen te zitten en stierven. Onder het verval werden maden geboren; sommigen leefden hun hele leven zonder ooit zonlicht te zien.

Misschien was het tijd om bepaalde angsten onder ogen te zien en ZWARTE zaadjes te planten.

CLOSE-UP van de rottende duif. Wat ooit veren waren, is nu een samengeklitte, bewegende massa van maden en schimmels, glanzend op plekken waar de ontbinding zich heeft opgehoopt als een organisch glazuur.

Lisa Mc Ilveen (1999) is a multidisciplinary artist, an admirer of the extremes, a visual thinker and writes about the things that move her: on the body, within the body, the body as a breeding ground, the body in latex, the body in meat, the body in control and the boy with others. Lisa is horror with a sugar coating. Metal and horny. Pink and black. She undertook an internship with Rouze, is one of the halves of collective LAS VULVINAS and graduates from Creative Writing (ArtEZ) with ‘De Jachthonden Achterna’: a femgore story about a monster princess where screen play, prose and poetry tear open the fairy tale.
