Authentic, curious, connecting

Authentic, curious, and seeking connection – these are words that describe Janna as a creator, dancer, teacher, and above all, as a person. She loves to stay active, both physically and in her development. As a child, her dance teacher described her as a sponge: always absorbing everything around her. That eagerness to learn has remained, and not just in dance, because her interests are broad and constantly evolving. Her latest passion is bouldering, and participating in a table tennis tournament at ArtEZ, where she was beaten by the janitor, is also very important. Connecting with people and forging genuine connections is what defines Janna.

Over the past four years, she has grown as an Artist Educator in Dance. This is how she found her place at Dansplaats, where she feels connected to the people and the way of working. Discovering together, playing, and moving are central here. In her classes, she combines these elements, which are part of her vision, with her passion for floorwork. The liberating feeling of flying through space and across the floor is something she personally experiences as fantastic and is eager to share with others.

In her role as a teacher, Janna attaches great importance to creating a safe and warm atmosphere, giving students the space to be themselves. In recent months, Janna has challenged herself to explore her artistic voice and to move as freely as possible in the process. She created a performance and a film and discovered that she is an intuitive creator, with authenticity as her compass. For Janna, this moment is a special milestone. It marks the end of her years at the Theatrium, but it is also a beginning. The future lies wide open, and she is curious to see what will unfold.
