With "Everything Used to Be Better," I invite visitors to travel back to comfortable childhood memories—a time full of comfort, peace, and optimism. A time when everything seemed simpler and you had no stress or responsibilities.
Nostalgia is central to my work. Nostalgia evokes various positive effects; it stimulates creativity, hope, and youthfulness. Nostalgic feelings stimulate parts of the brain associated with self-reflection, memory, and emotions. They energise us, help us dare to take risks, and keep pursuing goals.
I personally have a strong connection to my childhood. My parents recorded a lot of things, and we still live in the same place where I was born. There are many things I can connect to my childhood, ranging from toys to food and smells, the programmes on the telly that I watched, the music my father listened to, the scent of our house, and much more. All these nostalgic things give me a warm, comfortable feeling, and I want my final project to share this with visitors.
