Hella Jet

In her striking solo performance ‘Ik ben er nog’, she ceremonially concludes her revalidation. With an graduation performance for Creative Writing and music theatre courses at ArtEZ Hella brings autobiographical songs, monologues and anecdotes that move you with their disarming honesty and spot-on language. Let yourself be carried away by her personal stories about loss, resilience and identity - musical, perceptive and sometimes confronting. As she performs, her same-named EP will launch.

Er is alleen één moment in het bijzonder waardoor ik heel trots ben op de persoon die ik op zelfs een onderbewust niveau ben. 

Eén  moment dat voor mij heeft bewezen: 

Het bloed in m’n hoofd heeft het meisje niet weggespoeld.

 De kern is wel degelijk behouden gebleven en de essentie van wie ik ben

 en altijd ben geweest

 is niet verloren gegaan.

 Want zelfs bloed in mijn hoofd was niet genoeg om de volgende interactie met mijn lief te voorkomen.

Hella Jet (2001) is left side paralyzed, recovering from a life-changing brain haemorrhage and - as far is known - the only extreme right participant of the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival, where she got through to the semi final in an sold-out Kleine Komedie in Amsterdam.
She writes and performes autobiographical cabaret shows and releases music alongside it. It’s her dream to ride a two wheeled-bicycle again for daily use. A dream that nearly came true, but because of participating at the Amsterdams Kleinkunst Festival and the realization that you can’t ride through a stone pillar, means that that dream (and the secondhand bicycle Nel) have been parked for now.
