After my first meeting with death, I realized how difficult it is to show grief. How vulnerable it feels, and how little we've learned to cope with it.

That experience called an old memory to mind: A cat, dead on a Persian carpet. A vision I'd had two years before, but hadn't been able to place until after this loss.

LORG is my attempt to examine this. The tension between holding on and letting go, between the overwhelming power of a first loss and the difficulty of truly feeling it.

LORG is a Gaelic word that means both "track" and "search". When a girl finds her cat dead and its spirit appears, she follows it through a series of surreal rooms. Spaces full of symbolism derived from the rituals and religions people have created over the centuries to deal with loss. Each room confronts her with the tension between holding on and letting go.

LORG is a surrealistic and magical film about the overwhelming power of a first loss and the difficulty of feeling it. The film was made with an original orchestral score and a combination of visual techniques.
