Frederique van der Wee

Frederique van der Wee is a mixed media, installation and collage artist based in Tilburg, the Netherlands. By pursuing themes such as control, interconnectedness and ‘the seam’, her work stretches across its original abstractness of thread and fabric to that of life. The use of forgotten and dismissed items as connectors between additional colorful materials, displays not only a similar forgotten playfulness. It also creates a space for that playfulness to be embraced, whilst amplifying the inherent tensions within control, challenging patterned movements and embracing ambiguity.
