Doortje Gerrits

Doortje Gerrits (24) is an enthusiastic artist-educator, who is constantly in search of new perspectives and experiences. She's an investigative all-round dancer and teacher who stresses the importance of connection and equality within her practice. Her working methods are mainly focused on the process, rather than the end result. Within her practice she tends to utilize and combine different art forms, also taking major interest in nature and culture. 

Doortje is a patient person who loves to go down rabbit holes and get to the bottom of things. Dance styles that Doortje is most comfortable and experienced with include modern dance, contemporary, theatre dance and ballet. However, during her studies at ArtEZ she unexpectedly fell in love with folklore, flamenco and break. In the future, Doortje wants to fight for more dance in the school system as well as the community field. The more people dancing, the better. This is how she aims to make a positive change in the world. A world in which we learn to better understand one another through the language of dance, and in which our body and soul are more connected.
